Election day in America

It's the election day today. Everyone got very excited  to vote for their own president. My friend, a black girl told me she and her family will be so excited to experience the historical moment tonight. They believe Obama will win the presidency. For my personal belief, I agree with them, too. He is the first black president in history if he wins the election. It's a stride to democracy even for America. He will represent the minority groups in America, like African-American, Mexican, Asian...and give more care and power to these groups of people. Since I came here, I have found that racial problem in America is still a big issue. Blue-collar workers in airport are dominated by black people or Mexican with very heavy accent. It's easy to understand. They are not well educated. They enjoy less education resources than white people do. They live in marginal society. Even in the campus,. you could seldom see a black student coupled with a white one. Both black and white or even Asian have their own friends who are identical in their skin color. My friends told me it was so sad to have these kind of barriers even between citizens in the same country. It's an irony to melting port that is believed to have people from different cultural background to interact with each other. Even for entertainment, like bars or shopping brand, black and white have each favorite one too. I could never imagine this kind of thing would happen in China. Is it because Han take up more 90% of our population and many preferential  policies  have been given to minority groups? In the history of America, two presidents were shoot to death in their position, both of them are resulted from racial issue. Lincoln  freed  black people, those slaves from their owner. On the contrary, Kennedy created segregation between white and black.
As for voting thing in America, I felt very jealous when I was told how proud or exciting they are to have their poll. This time I felt doubted about my own country's political system, since each time when I argued with my Taiwanese friends, I would stress on different situation of country leads to different political system and voting system. The fact that People's representative votes for China's future leader  may not be a bad thing compared to political scandals  in Taiwan. However, this time I hesitated on my stance. If one is responsible for the development of the country and welfare of its people, he/she should be the stake holder in voting for president. I couldn't do nothing when seeing our president corrupted, over using the power or show less care to laid-off workers,  peasants or immigrant farmers, or give in our interest when dealing with international relations, if any holds true in the future. We should be much more transparent in different kinds of election, or even in the recruitment of public servants. I hope all Chinese people could realize their right in this issue. However, this revolution, or movement should be carried out in the peaceful settings. I mean fewer people will injure or blood and majority of people should keep their standard of living, although it is much too difficult. At this moment, I realize my tiny power in any kind of political movement.
I will keep an eye of the televised TV program of president election. The result will come out near the midnight. Hopefully, Obama will be the first black American president in history. I want to experience this historical moment with my friends, too.
